International Championship
For a while Ive been working on a twinshock international series. The following thoughts are for this series not intended for uk racing.I have had positive feedback from Holland, maybe a german gp support,Swiss event, and cz and uk.
Pre 84 Twinshock Twins /Multi cylinders.
Air cooled Jumbo ok,
Monoshock wasp pre 8o something if fitted with eligable engine,
Any brakes/shocks/wheels/forks/swingarms.
Chassis to be built pre84 or new wasp/eml twinshock as long as dimensionally correct.
No modified monoshock chassis,
No other frames other than wasp/eml or other pre 84 sidecars[Heos/sbs/homemade.
No singles.
These thoughts are inline with other countries current regulations.

As far as Im aware no mono frames were made pre 85, there are several EML and wasp mono frames around which are altered back to twinshock to keep within the rules and the spirit of twinshocks,

Ok I dont have a problem with a mono wasp/eml if fitted with correct engine if it is a few years newer than 84 from what has been said they are no advantage?

Re: International Championship
Umm . thought the first rule was " pre 84 twinshock" now you have sccraped that already. WHY.
This makes it a post 84 monoshock championship now. WHY.

Re: International Championship
I can understand your point mono if with correct engine, air cooled allowed though.Although talking to Dutch organisers there are a couple of watercooled ones being used over their.Idont think watercooled is eligable.

Re: International Championship
Tell me is a mono wasp/eml with a twin/ multi engine of say 85/86/87 any better than a twinshock and are there many of them?

I would say NO to both questions
as for the couple of watercooled running in Holland,, thats because they have them so they let them run, same as the few mono frames over here, we let them run, that would not work in a championship, you need to draw a line and stick to it, if not what you may do is open the door to something else.

I agree with Kev, if you start bending the rules already during the season they will get bent even more!

Re: International Championship
My ten penneth...
No mono's
No singles unless proven pre 85 (XL/XR/XT etc..)
No watercooled
No new type chassis
So a YZ490 in a pre 84 twinshock: legal. (Shit, but legal)
Rotax in the same frame : not legal.
Yam XS in a BSU copy twinshock :not legal
Yam XS in a new Wasp : legal

Re: International Championship
Twinshock Twin/Multi/Aircooled pre 84.
Engine to be pre 84 so no modern air cooled twin/multi.
Air cooled Jumbo[air cooled twin/multi if in correct vintage frame]kawasaki triple
No singles.
No mono shock
No new builds unless new wasp.

like the idea, I`ve managed to locate my old home built Rotax 2 stroke outfit that I did the first beach race on. Would love to turn out on that.

Re: International Championship
I really dont know why we are trying to make this so difficult, its all been done before, classic road racing, trials, MX, grasstrack, drag racing/sprinting to name a few, even our 4 wheel friends have historic championships from F1 to rally. They all have a rule book and stick to it.
I like the idea of pre 85 twinshock sidecars, sounds easy and its been a good & popular formula for many years, One more point I would like to make is the preservation of historic vehicles which should include MX sidecars,
Pre 85 twinshock sidecars, has a nice sound to it.
If anyone is interested to see how others do it you could take a look here (try and bend these rules and see how far you get)

I've seen you wearing yer brothers clothing....
Shocks, Brakes & suspension are all the things that make a bike go fast regardless of what motor is fitted...Instead of planning on travelling all over Europe arguing about engine's and frames lets concentrate on getting more than 4 outfits out to North Devon etc and support the club's here... Before you respond please keep it in mind that i'm never wrong.....
love you all

Well my thoughts are,, pure pre 1978, period wheels, brakes, suspension, only period mods, will allow a newer fuel tank and 1 (only one) modern shock, any engine 2 or 4 stroke, single or multi so long as its pre 78, Riders must be before January 1954.
Now that suits me perfect, who does yours suit ?????

Re: International Championship
OK then fair point (although it would give me a better chance eh) so hows about I make a compromise and let younger riders in, and maybe if there is enough interest give them a bit more help by allowing bikes up to,,,, well hows about 1984, same rules as pre 78
Rules are rules and broken by fools
