Firstly I can confirm that Fred Giles is still around, living in Bude.
Recently I have been working with Pete White, another sidecar name from the past, to identify both solo riders and sidecar crews in photographs taken by one of my close friends father in the 50s and 60s.
We also did some work earlier this year for the centenary open day at Bower Farm Aldworth where the Reading Ace Club held the March Hare and Berkshire Grand National back in the 50's and 60's.
Pete has done virtually all of the work identifying the sdiecar crews in the photos and these are relevant to this post.
So from my memory and the photos I would add to the list: -
Bill Turner/Dave Keep - BTS
Bill Turner/Tony Lightfoot - BTS
John Turner/Mick Meredith - BTS
John Turner/Mike Summerfield - BTS
Wally Searl/Malcolm Searl - Dratsab
John Elliott/Brian Warwick
Eddie Chandler/Brian Warwick
Eddie Chandler/Barry Nutley
Barry Nutley as a sidecar driver in his own right
Roy & Stan Price
Robertson Twins
Rufus & Tiger Rose
Rufus Rose & Les Maidment
Frank Wilkins & Kay Saunois
Mike Guildford & Fred Wilkins
John Callender & Derek Hudspith
Dave Forbes
Malcolm Grassie
Derek Farrow
Pete Weait
Terry Good
Robert Purlin & Claude Secal
Geoff Ward & Derek Carrick
John & Irene Corbett
Robert Garcia & hughes Georgos
Frank Darrieulat & C.Sacret
Dennis Ludlow
Ake Bournebusch & Norman Fear
Kaj Bournebusch & M.Garston
Jim & Colin Clements
Bob & Brian Hewitt
George Hallam & J. Woollands

The last time I saw the Reading based riders including the Wilkins mentioned in an earlier post was at the Mortimer 75th Anniversary meeting.

Have a look at 'The John Davy Pages Home' on the web to see sidecar results from historical meetings where there are many more names to be seen.

Ivan,

You are indeed a man of great knowledge, you mention many names I remember, Suny Sargeson and Jack Martin are prominent people in the motocross lives of Kim and I. We bought from Suny our first ever sidecar outfit, it was literally a road going sidecar outfit adapted for track use it was called the tribsa. We then were fortunate enough to know Jack Martrin from Blaydon and we bought his Hybrid V and this was the bike Kim and I became the North East Champions and also ruffled feathers down south if you remenber.

Just found this site brought back some great memories when I saw "Green Grass Gobbler" in amongst the great names.
This was the home built outfit with 6T engine me and my brother Trevor Jones started grass tracking on, we had some great times on that I think we crashed in every race the first year we started. We progressed to one of Colin Campbells Cruachen outfit now that was an excellent machine, cannt remember what became of it ! Then we moved up to a Lynx and a big bore Triumph engine, oh happy days.
Remembering lots of names from those days- Logan Brothers, Kenny Mines/ Alan Dodds Colin Cambell Sonny Sarginson and loads more who's names will come back to me as soon as I log off here.

How about Geoff Stokes from Hull. Two speeds, Stop and Go. Think George Stevens was his regular passenger but I rode with him a few times.

Any one know what became of John Brydon, he lived near Durham and raced the Lynx me and my brother Trevor ended up with. I rode with John a few times but lost touch when I left the North East.
