My Dear Miss? Linda,
If you knew our dear Mr Longmore as I know and love him, ( in a manly, rough sort of way. Not the other sunday paper type), then you would know that due to the advancement of years, Mr Longmore is now in the need of assistance in many aspects of his private life. Although mechanical aids are available his hearing is not as good as that of a young slip of a girl as yourself. To this end, and that he is not blessed, as I, with a normal growth, I have placed him on said pedestal, ( this is the correct spelling ), so that he can hear and act upon my unworthy utterances during our forthcoming bimbles in this green and pleasant land.
I do hope that this little missive has cleared up any little misunderstandings that may have filtered into your brain. Should you require further information about our dear leader, then please do not hesitate to contact me, when I will give you the full attention of my stiff upper lip.
