2stroke
Thinking of putting a proposal together to change the rule on 2 stroke motors, pre 73 is a joke.I am thinking more of pre 81 air cooled, open the game up to more outfits, cut costs, and make things a bit more interesting.. Plus i love em....

Re: 2stroke
Thanks for that.... Spent months finding a 1973 H2 motor!
Seriously though it would open it up for air cooled Jumbo's if nought else.

Re: 2stroke
1000cc Jumbo should cerainly be allowed... They are a true Twin Shock and I can't see the point of them being banned...
Not sure what other engines were around at the time in terms of 2-Strokes... Were any big singles/water cooled engines starting to appear then or was that slightly later in the eighties?

Re: 2stroke
single 2t and cost cutting is what killed off the big bikes in the first place, the rules should say no singles, motors should be pre 84, minimum 650cc and two cylinders or more.

All well and good if you have a bottomless pit of cash to build em and then keep em running, :%$%$:

Re: 2stroke
i have no bottem less pit, i do what i can, i manage,im very anti single as far as the motors are concerned, the big motors are what twinshock racing is all about, the 2t killed off the big bikes but it also killed off the spectators, who of you out there went to the frome g.ps in the late 70s and early 80s?, massive growds........untill the light weights came out, iv spent months and months fitting the v twin in to my chassis, i chose the motor cos its 1000cc allready, no boring of crank cases, barrels etc, its also a pre 84 motor, there is only two logical ways foward with 2t singles, they either run in a class of there own or you buy your self a modern chassis and race with the new bikes, theres no resone for any one to ride a single 2t or 4t,the big bikes are out there, its a matter of finding them,if more rotax and 2t start to appear then the big bikes will die off once again.

Re: 2stroke
pattison need not comment cause to be able to afford to run his he has to sell himself up the dingy back alleys ov midhurst.whats going to happen 10 or 15 years down the line when you cant get any 2 cylinder 4 strokes is teh sport just goin to die? or do you start to accept that unfortunatley things cant last forever and things have to change. so perhaps the inclusion of pre 81 2 strokes and all pre 84 4 strokes will keep the sport going and promote more intrest, or we could just leave it, ignore a opportunity to change things and let the sidecar class end up like the pre 60 solo class.

Re: 2stroke
Hi Guys,
Another option would be the possibility of a Sidecar Evo class as mentioned by Mr P and others on a few occasions. That could cater for example for everything Pre 90 or 92, therefore 2-stroke singles, early monoshocks up to and including the 610 and 620 Zabel, but excluding the 685 and 700 versions? Different Class, Different Championship, but if needs be line ups could be combined in places with a low entry to ensure we all get a ride?
I know it does not help with the big twin versus lightweight argument, but could it be developed as the beginings of a resolution and open up a a whole new world of machines for those who do not have the budget for a big twin or simply can't find one?
(I know I will probably get shot for this)

Re: 2stroke
The problem is , as Nige says, the early two stroke singles are piss boring. And most fell to pieces years ago.
