Andy Carter and Simon Chell have both been speaking to the club and only 1 sidecar has been entered so far.

I know August 11th is still a month away but the club really needs to know numbers.

After last years poor entries, I doubt we will be invited back should it happen again this year. If there arent enough entries the class will not run

Does this meeting clash with Chester????

I have been advised by our entry secretary [Andy Sollars] that up till yesterday we have only received 4 side car entries for our Aug 11th meeting. We require at least another seven entries by the end of the week, or we will have to cancell the side-car races. Up untill a month ago we had 14 crews who had said they would be coming, but since the Chester club decided to run a meeting [without consulting us, as layed down under AMCA rules] we have been deserted. After last years fiasco, when we were abandoned at the last moment, I'm afraid this could be the last time sidecars are invited to our race meetings. I don't know how the solo entry at Chester is going, but we have already reach over 100, so we will definately be running. The Pontralis meeting has now been cancelled.

Due to lack of entries, the sidecar class has been cancelled this year.

Only 4 sidecars entered at Chester Classic. The club have said they will not be putting a sidecar class on nxt yr. Brian Bodfish had apparenly booked this championship round at the begining of the year . If coombe is cancelled why dont the crews entered for that contact chester classic

I am not digging at anyone here, so don't all get pissy.
The reason for the lack of entries is money.
I worked out if nothing at all goes wrong with the outfit a meeting 100 miles from home taking into account diesel, food, bike fuel, entries,consumables etc costs in the region of £200.
But if you need a new back tyre £50, chain £50-£80.
It's simple economics.
Maybe a few passengers should be like me and Greg and put there hand in their pocket occasionally.

Wish I could do a meeting on £200   even with bald tyres

Other factor to money (which I agree with)  is the fact there are too many meetings to choose from.  Mortimer/IMBA/Frome/chester. that's four on the trot.  That equals £800 for 1 month racing on dougs shoe string.


Ps. I`ve put my hand in my pocket for the last 9yrs keeping the weslake on the track.

We haven't been racing due to my back problems-if they can tell me that racing won't make any worse (accidents etc don't count) we will be back out there,maybe slow and at the back but gives others a job to overtake us (lap us?). I have always paid for the entry and half running costs. When taking Mick+Sue they paid half the fuel.x  

We need to travel outside of the M4 corridor... You will not be buggered by Dragons if you go to Wales and you ain't gotta sleep at Fred Dibnah's house if you, dare i say it, travel slightly North!!!
