Bike has NEVER started without using the choke lever, today it did and the thing is so rich its slinging out black smoke and only clears on half throttle.  I did empty the carb 9 months ago and its sat in the garage since. Any of you aces out there got any ideas.  Cheers

If it is the float sticking open...
I had a similar problem with a pair of PHF36, after sitting for ages with no fuel the brass needle and seat went a bit off colour and as the float swings upwards it pushes the needle slightly sideways in the seat and it won't cut the flow of fuel.
Polish the side of the needle/seat back to bright again
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for info Matt.  You may well be right, cleaned every jet and tapped the float a few times and bike ran as clean as a whistle.  Must keep an eye on it in future.
Cheers, Mike
