Mixed meetings
moderns and twinshocks. does it work. will it work . will it kill the sport of classic twinshock racing. there seems to be more clubs and events allowing it. is it for the good of the sport or promotors/clubs benifit.
A lot of mixed views today at Ford from spectators and entrants.

Re: Mixed meetings
Of course it doesn't work, they are now vastly different machines and the differences in capabilities will lead to a bad accident.
Both are exciting to watch and ride but not together. We all know it only happens because twinshock numbers can struggle and it gives the organisers some extra bunce.
Let's try to encourage more of the old 'uns to enter.

Re: Mixed meetings
It they want to have a ride and are beginners/novices why not?
One of our current GP riders started this way, always kept out of any trouble and learnt his craft. If however they want to go banger racing then don't let them ride.

Re: Mixed meetings
who decides who should ride and who should not. can not see a promoter/club turning away money. you can ride, you can not, think its all or nothing.
perhaps the club/promoter should make it clear when the regs are put out. "open to all" then everyone knows where they stand. no moaning, no complaining and all can ride.

Re: Mixed meetings
what did the spectators and competitors think at ford? i did hear comments from some spectators that they came to watch vintage bikes not modern, as much as i love sidecars of any kind i do think twinnies and modern should be run apart. if you choose to ride a twinshock or modern then race in your chosen class, the twinshocks got killed off once.....hate to see it happen again

After emailing the AMCA to see what their rulings are on mixed classes within there meeting, modern/evo`s (single shock) should be in there own class, not mixed with Twinshocks at any AMCA event.

Re: Mixed meetings
Well, that's clear enough. Probably has insurance implications. Let's keep it pure.

Twins/moderns
Agree it should only be twinshock/era but as Kevin posted earlier last week looking for entries would the sidecar class be pulled if the 2 or 3 moderns werent there it sounded like they had more solos to run another class.Just seems to be not enough teams racing at the moment if it carries on the clubs will drop the sidecar class

Re: Mixed meetings
I think its now a case of "we are to popular" there is a meeting almost every weekend which is good in one respect but it now means teams can do every other meeting or just local to them. Where as a few years a go you did what was out there as probably one a month maybe two if you were lucky. It may now be a case of survival of the most popular club. shame but I think it has to happen for the good of the sport.
Agree with paul if there were not the few moderns at ford, it would of been dropped, but perhaps the club should make entrys refundable to those not wanting to mix, was naughty how they did it. or make it open from the beginning then everyone is clear including the poor confused spectators.
bottom line "time will tell"

Re: Mixed meetings
Similar problems with entries with modern chairs too many events/championships for the number of chairs racing regulary. :??<<:
